Born out of love for creativity, imagination and emotion, out of love for life and its amazing exuberance, Marabeca is a label of playful accessories and clothing, cheerful and relaxed when it comes to composition and colors, but seriously devoted to the highest standards in terms of quality and approach to business.

THE NAME

linie_C1_400x1

It is named after Marabbecca – a legendary creature originating in Sicily. This creature lived in wells and reservoirs, and it was probably mentioned frequently by Sicilian parents trying to scare their children away from playing dangerously near wells.   •    But time passed and things changed. Our monster is now a friendly one. It slowly learned to interact with all the people and cultures passing trough its land over the years, and then it started to get out of its home and see the world with different eyes.   •    The monster learned to smile. Oh, and it developed a pair of very small wings, not very practical, but enough for short bursts of silly, enthusiastic flight. So don’t be surprised if you see it passing by your window on rainy days, with crazy moves and funny eyes. It loves life and reminds everybody about it.

THE DESIGNER

linie_C1_400x1

It all started with a drawing. Some pencil sketches on a piece of paper and the idea of finding a way to wear the designs came to life.   •    The designer draws the roots from the traditions of her own family from which she inherited her passion for design and architecture. After 15 years of working in marketing and occasionally as a freelance illustrator, she decided to follow her dream and start a fashion label.   •    She started forming an enthusiastic team and, combining her skills as an artist with the love for fashion, now she is designing unique and fun to wear accessories and clothing.

THE COLLECTION

linie_C1_400x1

The inspiration comes from an eclectic range of sources: nature patterns, children tales, contemporary trends and habits, common objects and funny life moments.   •    Each design is constructed from layers of original hand drawn images, sketched, penciled, brushed and then mixed and adjusted through modern digital techniques, before being printed on the finest fabrics and finished by craftsmen from the famous region of Como, Italy.   •    Each scarf has a strong individual composition by illustrating through colorful images an original and suggestive story. There is no traditional symmetry or common repeating patterns, so the eyes will wonder for minutes before discovering all the graphical details, the intriguing hues and the whole story behind every scarf.   •    The pieces can be draped and worn differently each time, as every design offers unique perspectives when the story unfolds and different vivid colors are revealed. They easily match various outfits, and we believe that every Marabeca scarf will have an uplifting effect on you and the ones around you. We make them with love.
